ENROLMENT OF STUDENTS
5 year olds
Learners beginning school at age five must have their birth certificat or passport to verify age.
This is a Ministry of Education requirement. The school will take a verified copy of these.
Please bring your child's immunisation certificate, available from your Doctor, or your PLunket Book to enrolment.
A Before School health check should be done by the Doctor or the Public Health Nurse before your child begins school.
These are Health Department recommendations.
Learners turning five can be enrolled before their birthday. We encourage parents to spend a couple of Thursday afternoons at our Kick Start School programme with their child at school before turning 5 years old.
Once a term an evening 5.30pm, 1 hour transition meeting will be held to allow for a smooth start to school.
NB Parents must stay with their child when visiting because School insurance will only cover students 5 years old and upwards.
Five year old learners do sometimes get upset on their first few days or week at school. Parents can get anxious about this. Please remember the teacher of five year olds is very experienced in handling upset children. We encourage you to leave your child in our capable hands. We are happy to phone you to tell you how your child is settling.
All enrolments are done at the office with the Principal or Deputy Principal, or in their absence an Administration Officer.
New Learners wanting to enrol at Melville Primary School
Parents and caregivers can enrol learners at the school office. Bring any books or transfer forms from your child's previous school.
Bring birth certificates and immunisation certificates – these are needed for legal verification.
We will look forward to having your child at our school.
